2 Vacancies at the East Herts. Council Independent Remuneration Panel

We’ve been informed that there are now two vacancies at the East Hertfordshire Council Independent Remuneration Panel to be advertised in the local newspapers today (5 March) and tomorrow.  You can find the advert at the bottom of this blog.

Independent Remuneration Panels are citizen panels set up to recommend the pay for local councillors and what responsibilities qualify for further allowances.  Why is this important?  Because East Herts. Council recently increased their Council Tax to compensate a pay hike for senior councillors. (click below to enlagre)

So if you wish to have a say and want to do something on what your councillors are being paid in East Hertfordshire, then the least you can do is apply to join the panel.  It is the direct way you can influence local spending, albeit on what your councillors are paid.  If they’re not delivering you quality services and lower taxes, then you have the power to remunerate their ‘service’.  Please do apply and get your applications in quickly as interviews will begin in the week commencing 16 March.

If you would like to know more, you can email me at [email protected].  Or you can ask for an application pack by contacting Jeff Hughes – Head of Democratic and Legal Support Services,  Council Offices, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, Herts., CM23 2EN (tel; 01279 655261; ‘e’- mail: [email protected]).
