Calling for longer Sunday trading hours on Newsnight

The Chancellor is expected to announce in today's Emergency Budget that limitations on Sunday trading hours are to be lifted, with decisions devolved to local authorities. Not only will this give shop workers the chance to earn a little extra cash if they'd like to, but would have a positive knock on effect for the Treasury if more people are out and about shopping. And really, in a world of 24/7 online shopping, doesn't the six-hour limit on Sundays look a little anachronistic?

Our Political Director was on the BBC's flagship daily current affairs programme Newsnight telling presenter Evan Davis just that. You can see her appearance here.
