Clumsy, bewildering and silly: Plymouth reacts to police plea for drivers - Plymouth Herald

The Taxpayers' Alliance said that although it may seem like a "silly" scheme, it could help save money.

Chief Executive Jonathan Isaby said: "This may seem silly at first glance, but schemes like this can help the police to free up officers' time and reduce costs for taxpayers.

"It's fantastic to see that people are willing to offer their help and time to the police, and it means they can do their bit to help keep costs down.

"Of course, for dangerous or emergency situations communities will want to be reassured that officers arrive quickly in properly equipped cars to handle the given situation, but schemes like this should be encouraged for other scenarios."
