Writing for The Times (£), Matthew Sinclair argues that before politicians cut popular frontline services they must tackle the inefficiency of Britain’s bloated government.
Many bureaucrats and politicians want you to think the Government has already been cut enough. They want to frighten you with the thought that every new £1 of cuts to spending will mean a commensurate reduction in the quality of public services. Cut spending and emergency calls will go unanswered, streets will go unswept and children will have to teach themselves with nothing but Wikipedia and roving street gangs to guide them.
