Jonathan Isaby, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, told MailOnline: 'Budgets are tight at the moment so trusts should be focusing every single penny of taxpayers' money on providing services, not wasting it on the latest 4x4 for the top brass. 

'No matter how much money we spend on the NHS it is constantly under the strain of increasing demand, so there is absolutely no room to waste taxpayers' money on toys for the boys.

'Taxpayers deserve better value for their hard-earned money.'
