The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions is based in Dublin. It is advertising for a vacancy.
Apparently, ‘Eurofound’ is seeking to recruit an Information Officer “to join the small team in its Brussels Liaison Office (BLO)”.
The Information Officer will monitor what is going on in Brussels, attend committee meetings, undertake “networking”, monitor Eurofound’s impact on EU policymaking, pro-actively promote research findings and so on – basically, lobby Brussels.
All this begs two questions. Firstly, why should EU quangos want or need to lobby the EU; and secondly, given this footprint organisation is a “small team”, how many of the other EU quangos have BLOs of their own – how many millions is it costing us, the taxpayer?
