Many councils have announced the abolition or their newspapers and magazines – or propaganda rags as they have become known.  Hull has abolished ‘Hull in Print’ completely, and ‘East Riding News’ is now going to be published on a quarterly basis. This is something we have been campaigning for and is welcome news.

What I found amusing more than anything else was an article on page 8 of the final edition of ‘Hull in Print.’ The headline read: Hull in Print magazine is coming to an end, however residents can get the same information and more on the council website. The article then goes on to say Hull City Council’s website is now in the top 20% of local authority websites across the country when it comes to usefulness and usability.

So finally the council admits its monthly magazine was a waste of money. Why did it take so long?

Yippie, just got those quarterly East Riding News to go. When they started I wrote asking them to justify using my money they replied that it was no cost as it was paid for by advertising, I replied that the only advertising was East Ridings own, the same advertising they were repeating in at least two other places to my knowledge so how did that work, still my money.
Never did get a reply to that one.

Well the DWP spy team in Hull seem to be cutting nothing, they spy on people using brand new cars, including Mercedes, Range Rovers, Jaguars most have private plates and fleets of fake commercial vehicles. I am told they obtain car loans@ 3% per apr and 60p per mile. They set up movement detection systems in houses to spy on neighbours yes even the toilet! Be careful if you end your claim for benefit you too could be the subject of such treatment, your MP will then make promises to ask the PM to investigate but then gets cold feet ( Karl Turner) and the police will threaten to arrest you for harassment and or bring two psychiatric nurses to your house-who when shown electronic evidence, then decide their time has been wasted and disappear!

Yes its all true and coming to your neighbourhood too no doubt. Would a terrorist be subject to this level of inhumane treatment-ask Mrs Hall at the Hull DWP…she’ll no doubt deny it…

The spring issue of Cambridge Matters (as if) magazine said the council had frozen the council tax but failed to mention the £169,000 of central government funding which enabled them to do this: 100 per cent LD spin, paid for by taxpayers prior to the local city elections. The magazine costs taxpayers £35,000 per year.

In my area we get the Sandwell Herald propaganda newspaper from the council.
I have asked not to have it put through my letterbox as it makes me feel ill with
its pictures of grinning councillors/ employees and its we are wonderful headlines,
but have been told that it is impossible for me to be excluded from the mail list
despite the council running a no to junk mail service.
There is also a similar vile newspaper from Sandwell Health which I can’t stop being delivered.

Hopefully now Labour are back in power in Hull, the magazine will be restored.
