Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council sets aside £50,000 for person who tripped on mat - Hinckley Times

A trip over a mat could end up costing Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council £50,000 in compensation.

The authority has already paid £67,000 in compensation in two years for trips, falls and minor injuries and this could rise to £117,000 if the latest claim is settled.

Nearly £10,000 was paid to a person who tripped on a low bar from an unused market stall last year, more than £6,500 was paid to somebody who tripped on a pothole, but escaped injury, and £2,000 was paid to somebody who tripped over a public toilet.

The figures come from a freedom of information request by the TaxPayers’ Alliance.
