Hull Daily Mail: East Riding Council spends £12k on staff trips abroad

Andrew Allison, Hull and East Riding spokesman for TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: “East Riding residents do not pay their council tax for officers to jet off to conferences, unless the trips are absolutely necessary.

“Officers can easily link-up with colleagues in other organisations using video conferencing facilities.

“This is how many people keep in touch with friends and relatives who live thousands of miles away. They can share best practices via e-mail and by looking at each others’ websites.”
