Dumfries & Galloway Standard: Voters face £10 million decision day
Yesterday, campaign group, the Taxpayers’ Alliance, called for tougher restrictions to be put in place.
A spokesman said: “Councillors receive generous taxpayer funded expenses for representing residents, their attendance at these meetings should be automatically published and easily accessible.
“It’s up to residents to decide whether they are properly represented by a councillor but local authorities should ensure it takes pitching up to at least more than one meeting every six months just to meet the legal minimum.”
