Plymouth council loses out on £635,000 in a year as city drivers learn how to avoid bus lane fines - The Plymouth Herald

The Taxpayers' Alliance, a non-profit organisation that campaigns for lower taxes, welcomed the new figures, reminding the council that local residents should not be mistaken for "cash cows".

Campaign manager Harry Davis said: "If fewer fines are being issued then council leaders should be pleased motorists are doing the right thing.

"But if councils become over-reliant on fine revenue, there's a danger they'll try to catch people out rather than encourage good behaviour.

"Local residents cannot be seen as 'cash cows' who can be used to fill black holes in poorly planned local authority budgets."
