Taxpayers will literally pay the price for the folly of the Tidal Lagoon

Sky News reports that the UK Government has given planning permission for the world's first tidal lagoon, an underwater power station which uses tidal power to generate electricity.

The article and video both include a quote by our chief executive Jonathan Isaby, who had this to say:

"It is we, the taxpayers, who will be literally paying the price for it. The huge subsidy which is being asked for will make it the most expensive electricity anywhere in the world and we will have to pay for it through either higher taxes and/or higher energy bills."

You can see our previous blog post for more detail on the problems of the tidal lagoon.
