Earlier this year the TaxPayers’ Alliance uncovered details of the Royal Mail surplus staff scheme. It costs taxpayers almost £10 million a year to retain employees rather than make them redundant. This note reveals that Transport for London has a similar arrangement called the “redeployment unit”.
