The Tax on Holidays

Before families head off on their well-earned summer break, they have to pay taxes on
their flights, holiday insurance and the goods they buy. The Government has scrapped the
two highest rates of Air Passenger Duty which will take effect from April 2015. But until
then, holiday-makers will still be subject to the highest Air Passenger Duty rates in the
world – even budget flights to destinations close by in Europe.
