The Yigal Allon Education Trust is very closely affiliated to the Labour Party, and has never, as far as I can tell, had anything to do with environmental causes; indeed, its remit is so vague that the Charity Commission records its “activities” as “no information recorded” (http://bit.ly/d89QYo). One of its two “charitable objects”, according to their “governing document” is
    (B) TO EDUCATE TRADE UNIONISTS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM IN THE HISTORY PHILOSOPHY AND DEVELOPMENT OF TRADE UNIONS IN ISRAEL WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE KIBBUTZ AND MOSHAV MOVEMENT AND THE HISTADRUT.
Doesn’t seem too relevant to climate change to me!
Its funding for the financial year ending 31 Dec 2006 is £49,480 — exactly the amount they received from the CCF! The next year they received a grand total of… £700. Their accounts ending 31 Dec 2008 are overdue by 112 days. One of the three trustees is Lord Gould, who spectacularly fiddled his expenses (by his own admission: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article6396064.ece)
And this is just 0.5% of the CCF spending: almost £50k given to a “charity” which has nothing to do with climate change, which is otherwise pretty much inactive, and which is coincidentally very well connected to the Labour party, particular the Labour Friends of Israel. Good show all round!

I’ve published a more extensive investigation of this particular waste of taxpayers’ money at http://gfreeman.wordpress.com/2010/02/20/just-another-outrageous-waste-of-taxpayers-money-possibly-on-cronies-ho-hum/
