The Taxpayers' Alliance has uncovered that 45 local authorities have spent £603,392 on gender neutral toilets since 2020. Arun district council spent £398,616 on 14 unisex cubicles.
Speaking to the The Times, which published the findings, our investigations campaign manager, Joanna Marchong, said:
"The use of taxpayer money to erode single-sex spaces will worry many.
"It's clear that many town halls are putting ideology above the interests of their residents and employees.
"Council bosses should seriously consider whether gender neutral toilets are in the best interest of the people who use them."
