Council staff allowed to work from abroad

There has been a ten-fold rise in the number of local authority employees who are allowed to work from abroad, a TaxPayers' Alliance investigation has found. Hundreds of staff have been allowed to work from locations including Spain, Italy, Brazil and Australia.

 

Speaking to the Daily Mail, which published the findings, our chief executive John O'Connell said:

"Hard-pressed households will be shocked by the number of public sector staff working from abroad. 

"Residents forking out record rates expect officials to be using the office space taxpayers are footing the bill for.

"Council staff should get off the sun loungers and get back to town halls."
