The TaxPayers’ Alliance need your help

We at the TaxPayers’ Alliance keep a close eye on what local councils do with your money and on how much money they take. At this time of year, local councils announce how much they intend to raise bills by in the year ahead.

If you see any news stories locally about how your council tax is changing, it would be a great help to us if you would drop us a quick email with the details. We are a small team and are only able to do the work we do because of supporters and volunteers like you.

While councils in England have to hold a referendum if they want to raise bills by 2 per cent or more, this is not a requirement elsewhere in the UK. Bills in Wales look likely to rise by as much as 5 per cent again this year and we would particularly like to hear about those changes.

We will be campaigning against councils who have been ratcheting up those bills – others have shown that it is unnecessary and reductions can be found. If you want to see us highlighting tax hikes and wasted money in your town, then please do get in touch.
