Mid Sussex Council gave out over £300,000 in redundancy payments in 2022 alone, including one package worth over £100,000 and one payment worth just under £99,000.
Speaking to Sussex World, which published the findings, our investigations campaign manager Elliot Keck said:
“These golden goodbyes will be a kick in the teeth for local taxpayers.
"Redundancy payments are a normal part of doing business, but local authorities should be expected to keep them under control.
"Council bosses should ensure that some of these sums aren't repeated.”
