NHS Trusts spend over £112 million in one year

NHS Trusts spent more than £112 million on pistage in the 2021/22 financial year, a 17 per cent increase from the previous year, a TaxPayers' Alliance investigation revealed. An average of £1.7 million was spent per Trust between 2019/20 and 2021/22.

Speaking to The Sun, which published the findings, our investigations campaign manager Elliot Keck said:

"Taxpayers will be shocked by the size of this spending.

"While the health service will need to communicate with some patients by post, costs can surely be cut.

"NHS bosses should look at ways to trim the fat"
