Panel discussion: Reforming the House of Lords

Panellists:

Lord Henry Haywood
Douglas Carswell
Sir Henry Bellingham MP
Henry Hill
Lord Flight

Lords, constitutional experts and former MPs all gathered to discuss the future of the House of Lords. Following a recent report by Sir Henry Bellingham MP on reforming the Upper House this was the perfect opportunity to debate this important topic. Henry Hill, assistant editor at ConservativeHome argued that the House of Lords does not need reforming saying it is a very good way of keeping a large amount of expertise on retainer. On the opposite end of the scale former MP Douglas Carswell called for the Lords to be abolished and voiced his disdain for the existence of any un-elected chamber.
