Phil Basey joined the TaxPayers' Alliance in early 2018 as a Research Fellow, before being appointed Research Director. He will be overseeing the research team and ensure our output is of the highest standard.
Phil graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Economics. From there he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a top 10 accountancy firm, before spending two years as a financial analyst at a US multi-national. After several years as a partner in practice, he went on to run and develop a variety of small commercial companies.
In 2013 Phil joined the policy team of a major political party, concentrating on economic and fiscal policy. He played a major part in developing the manifestos for both the 2015 and 2017 General Elections.
