TaxPayers' Alliance hosts public panel discussion on 'The impact of Business Rate changes'

You are invited to a public panel discussion on 'The Impact of Business Rate Changes'.

It has been reported that some retailers could face a 400 per cent increase in their bills over the next five years which has led backbench MPs of all political parties into lobbying the Chancellor for a re-think. Philip Hammond has indicated that he may be prepared to take measures to help those worst affected by the hikes to compensate for the changes some business may face but has not specified what form that may take.

To discuss what the Chancellor should do at the Budget, the TaxPayers' Alliance is holding a public panel discussion on 'The impact of Business Rate changes'.

Confirmed speakers are:
Sam Bowman, Executive Director, Adam Smith Institute
Ian Cass, Managing Director, Forum of Private Business
Sean Hughes, landlord of The Boot, St Albans
Kate Nicholls, CEO, Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers
Alex Wild, Research Director, TaxPayers' Alliance (chair)

The event will be followed by a drinks reception.
