Spoilsport councils warn football fans to keep quiet

A Taxpayers' Alliance investigation has uncovered that two local authorities sent letters to pubs, issuing 'reminders of responsibilities' during the Euros. Pubs were warned to avoid irresponsible marketing or any drinks promotions. 

Speaking to the Spectator, which published these findings, our grassroots development manager, Benjamin Elks, said:

"While football fans chant it's going home, council busybodies are wagging their fingers and calling for quiet.

"These spoilsport town halls should get a grip and embrace the enthusiasm that the rest of the nation has about England's impressive run."
