Stop talking about the deficit and cut it, say TaxPayers' Alliance

Responding to speeches by the Chancellor and the Prime Minister on the importance of cutting the deficit, Jonathan Isaby, Chief Executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

"If politicians spent as much time working out how to cut the deficit as they do talking about it, our public finances would be in a far healthier state. Endless speeches and political game-playing are no substitute for a proper deficit reduction plan. The debt continues to spiral out of control and the burden it will place on the next generation grows heavier by the day so taxpayers want action, not empty talk."
