In response to the news that the sovereign grant will temporarily increase:
Harry Davis, Campaign Manager at the TaxPayers' Alliance: "These are clearly huge sums of money and the public are right to cast a sceptical eye when the public finances are still in such a dire state. Large renovation projects such as these almost always come in late and over budget so it is important that those in charge keep a tight grip on the purse strings and make sure costs are kept under control. When necessary savings to be made across the public sector, no areas should be beyond scrutiny, and that includes the sovereign grant."
