TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to 7.5 per cent GDP growth

For immediate release

Responding to the Office for National Statistics’s (ONS) GDP first quarterly estimate, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“Bumper growth is exactly what is needed to tackle the colossal cost of covid.

“But April’s tax hikes threaten to undo the work of getting the economy back on track before it has even reached pre-pandemic levels.

“The chancellor should instead go for growth by cutting taxes, eliminating red tape, and ultimately supporting taxpayers and businesses.
