TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to crackdown on paid time off for union officials

For immediate release

Responding to plans to cap trade union facility time, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

"These rules to reign in facility time for public sector officials are long overdue.

"After a decade of campaigning and a round of frustrating summer strikes, the government is right to lay the groundwork for a cap on taxpayer subsidies to the trade unions.

"The two Tory leadership contenders could win taxpayers' trust by promising to implement this crackdown as soon as possible."
