TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to proposed ban on parliamentary consulting and lobbying

For immediate release

Responding to the Prime Minister’s proposed ban on MPs acting as paid political consultants or lobbyists, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“These rules rightly allow MPs to retain real world experience over plum political jobs.

“But it still leaves other parliamentarians deciding whether they are adequately carrying out their duties.

“These changes must come alongside a proper right to recall, which lets local voters have the final say.”
