TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to Sir Ed Davey’s speech to the Liberal Democrat conference

For immediate release

Responding to Sir Ed Davey’s conference speech, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“Taxpayers will be unconvinced by a speech that was big on optimism and anecdotes but contained little to suggest that they are serious about becoming the official opposition.

“Sir Ed Davey’s party continues to ignore the cripplingly high tax burden that squeezes households and businesses whilst proposing that Britain's problems can be solved by simply spending more money.

“If Davey and the Lib Dems want to fulfil the people’s trust, they need to provide something more than the same old playbook of reaching for ever more taxpayers’ money.”
