TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to the Bank of England slashing the UK’s growth forecast in half

For immediate release

Responding to the Bank of England cutting the UK’s growth forecast in half, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“This latest downgrade to UK growth forecasts will come as no surprise to taxpayers and businesses in the real world, who are paying the price for the economic vandalism unleashed at the budget by Rachel Reeves and clueless treasury officials.

“Time and time again politicians talk about growth but their words are never converted into action, leading our economy into a downward spiral of sluggish decline.

“If Reeves genuinely wants to go for growth, she must reverse her damaging jobs tax hike, stop pursuing ruinous net zero policies, and bring the cost of government under control."
