TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to Truss’s comments on spending

For immediate release

Responding to Liz Truss confirming her commitment to not cut spending, James Roberts, political director of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“The prime minister is in danger of delivering a half-baked fiscal plan.

“Government spending has grown wildly over recent years and tax cuts are back on the table, but working taxpayers know there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

“The chancellor now needs to spell out realistic plans to get the cost of government crisis under control.”
