Key performance indicators for the UK's most important contracts have deteriorated from the final quarter of 2021/22 to the final quarter of 2022/23, according to analysis of government figures by the TaxPayers' Alliance.
Speaking to The Guardian, which published the findings, our chief executive John O'Connell said:
“Ministers have taken their eyes off the ball when it comes to key contracts.
“With the state increasing to an almost unprecedented size, government seems unable to focus on what really matters to taxpayers.
"Whitehall must ensure that it gets a grip on these contracts and brings key indicators back into line with expectations.”
