Departmental Losses 2013-14

This research note details losses and special payments made by Ministerial Departments for the year 2013-14. In this research note the TaxPayers’ Alliance highlights how government departments spent beyond what Parliament would have contemplated when agreeing funds for each department in the 2013-14 financial year.

It is important to note that some of these losses may have been to other public sector organisations such as local authorities, NHS trusts, other departments or HMRC “Losses and special payments are items that Parliament would not have contemplated when it agreed funds for the Department or passed legislation. By their nature they are items that ideally should not arise.”
