Sadiq Khan right to take taxpayers off hook for Garden Bridge, says TaxPayers' Alliance

Reacting to Sadiq Khan's announcement that he is pulling taxpayer support for the Garden Bridge, John O'Connell, Chief Executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance said:

"It is good news that Sadiq Khan has seen sense and taken taxpayers off the hook for this ridiculous vanity project. Of course it is regrettable that so much taxpayers' money has already been spent on it but we shouldn't throw good money after bad.

"If in future politicians are so determined to build monuments to satisfy their egos, then they should seek the money from the private sector rather than dip their hands into taxpayers' pockets."
