In an article for The Times Thunderer column, our Chief Executive John O'Connell discusses the latest findings of the 2017 Town Hall Rich List.
In his piece, John argues that although there are examples of excellent services being provided at good value for money, local government spending needs to be brought under control, with still too many cases of exuberant exit payments, overly-generous pensions and salaries many times the local average, with little or no improvement in council's performance.
