TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to £21 million bill for PPE broker

For immediate release

Responding to news of a £21 million payout to a PPE broker, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“This is an eye-watering amount of taxpayers’ money, and suggests a troubling lack of care with the public purse during the covid crisis.

“In a pandemic, action must be taken quickly. But it’s still vital that ministers and officials protect taxpayers in their decision making.

“The billions spent in the government’s covid response must be scrutinised in a swift inquiry, so we can hold those responsible to account.”
