TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to Jeremy Hunt hinting at tax cuts in the autumn statement

For immediate release

Responding to Jeremy Hunt’s comments ahead of the autumn statement on cutting taxes, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

"Families and businesses struggling under the biggest tax burden in more than 70 years will be relieved to hear that they may get some respite at next week's autumn statement.

“But the proof will be in the pudding, and it's vital the chancellor doesn't simultaneously raise taxes elsewhere.

“In the long term, politicians must grip the cost of government crisis to deliver lower and simpler taxes, and a more prosperous future for the UK."
