TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to reports of planned tax rises

For immediate release

Responding to reports of planned tax rises, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“Further Tory tax hikes would not just break manifesto pledges, they would hammer households at the worst possible time.

“With Britain already facing a challenging winter, big increases in income taxes and council tax will send shivers down taxpayers’ spines and put hopes for an economic recovery on ice.

“The chancellor should stick to manifesto promises and not try to balance the books on the backs of working people.”
