Many major environmentalist groups have received substantial subsidies from the European Union since 1997 under the LIFE+ programme.
Taxpayers pay twice: once for the grants, then again with the higher prices that result when environmentalist groups successfully campaign for new regulations. Many of those environmentalist groups have received significant funding over fourteen years from when the LIFE+ programme was established in 1997 to the latest data in 2011.
